Did you know that eating alone could cause kidney damage?
Like I said, still have some movies to talk about:
21 Grams (USA, 2003) **** - Very good film. The story is a bit of a cliché (which is why I don't think it should really get a five), but the way the plot develops is, as everybody will notice, what the movie is really all about. Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro are acting particularly well. Benicio has really surprised me, actually. Anyway, very, very good. But absolutely sad. Do not watch it if you're not in a good state of mind.Or not.
"There are so many things that have to happen for two people to meet. - Paul Rivers, 21 Grams.
Was going to quote the "21 Grams" line, but
deadcinderella already did, so... *shrugs*
Hable con ella (Spain, 2002) **** - Very good film as well. Of course, there is a lot of Almodóvar's craziness in it, but that's the beauty of it. A lot about platonic love, all very subtle. Is was weird to see the ohsogay guy from La Mala Educación playing analmost straight character.
"Nothing is simple. I'm a ballet mistress, and nothing is simple." - Katerina Bilova, Hable Con Ella.
Hauru No Ugoku Shiro a.k.a. Howl's Moving Castle (Japan, 2004) ***** - Seriously, Hayao Miyazaki keeps on surprising me. I wasn't expecting much of Spirited Away and it turned out to be one of my favourite cartoons (only loses to Lion King, perhaps). I had, of course, some expectancy on this one, but not a lot, and I loved it all the same. I do still prefer Chihiro's adventures, and maybe because that was the first one, the new one doesn't surprise me a lot. But it is brilliant all the same, and, like Spirited, a very "grown-up" anime.
"- They say that the best blaze burns brighter when circumstances are at their worst.
- Yeah, but no one really believes that." - Sophie and Calcifer, Hauru No Ugoku Shiro.
Oh, and just for the record, I'm in love with Calcifer. Have to see it in English (watched in Japanese) to hear Billy Cristal as my beloved fire demon.
O Diabo a Quatro (Brasil, 2004) *** - Went to see this movie for the sole reason that my mum was the costume designer. Everyone said it sucked, but I rather enjoyed it and laughed a bit. No big problems with the film, even though it starts very well and decays (hate when that happens). Of course, the clothes were all very good. *grins*
Guess that's that. Going to watch In the Bedroom now. *sighs*
