Now all about the best weekend so far!
Friday -> Last day of classes for most of the brazilians that are here, for they were going to Paris on saturday (I decided not to take this tour becauseit was way too expensive and I'd already been to Paris). Simon decided to take us to the Ashmolean Museum (oldest museum in Britain) as our last class. First we walked till a little grocery store and he bought us some candy (did I ever mention that I love this teacher?), and then we went to see a part of the museum that I hadn't seen before. There were a lot of landscape paitings and a gorgeous room with Impressionists artists such as Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Toulouse Lautrec and Roudin. I loved it! It was as if my history of art classes all came to life!
After the museum we walked back to school and our second class was with Jake. It was a pretty light class, and we only listened to a song ("You don't impress me, by Shania Twain", to which I am addicted) and wrote the lyrics down.
Almost everybody had lunch at the pub, as if to say goodbye. Me and Lis took a bus to the Town Centre and, for the 50th time, she tried to withdraw money (she had about £180 on her account and couldn't take the money out because of a problem on her account). Thank Heavens it worked, so we went shopping! Can you imagine? £180! That's about R$1.000!
First of all we entered a coat store that was on sale. I bought a gorgeous coat for £9! Less than R$50! And it really warms me! I also got a present for my mother. Lis bought a coat and a watch (which were also pretty cheap) and I stayed staring at the very, very, very cute clerk for ages (Am I becoming straight? o.O)!
We also got in Disney Store and she got me for my birthday THE Stitch pup I was drooling at for ages! *_______________*
Afterwards we drank a last pint at the "Three Goats Head" and went home. I got to my house, had dinner, took a bath, watched some TV and slept.
Saturday -> Early in the morning Lis stopped by to say goodbye, for she was going to Paris. I ran to get a bus for I was supposed to meet with the students that were staying in Oxford at 8h30 to go to Wales. Marina, thank God, stayed in Oxford too.
It was about 1h30 hours of travelling till we got to Wales. Our first stop was an Abbey, very old one. It was not very interesting, for the building was pratically falling apart, so we got ourselves inside the gift shop to try to stay warm.
Second stop was a tiny little town were the writer of King Arthur's story was born. The town was no big deal, and we had just stopped there for lunch. Marina was dying to go to the bathroom and there was NO McDonnald's NOR Burguer King around, so we just went to Clinton Cards and stayed looking and laughing with english jokes. When we were already at the coach waiting for our guide to leave I saw a pub called "The Green Dragon" and really regreted I hadn't seen it before. I mean... It's the LoRT pub! The pub were Pippin and Merry drink the best beer on the South Farting! Ok, I'm a nerd, I admit it. ¬¬
It was then that we got to what became one of my favortie cities in the world: Cardiff, the capital of Wales. The first thing we did there was take a guided tour through the castle. It was one of, if not THE most beautifully decorated castle I have ever seen. Everything was perfectly mesured and thought about. All the rooms, all the walls... The decoration was no more than 150 years old, though. I was all build by a man (that I have forgotten the name) that belonged to a family that owned the castle. He went to Oxford University and studied History and Architacture. There was a lot of simbolism even in the tyniest of the rooms, a lot of Pagan simbolism too, even though he was a Roman Catholic. I felt myself inside one of Robert Lagdon's adventures. I think he would have gone crazy if he entered a place like that. I was a pity they didn't allow any photographs.
We left the castle after the tour and I realized why did my host family told me that I should bring money to Wales: That place is a paradise for shopping. It has low prices and all you are looking for (pherhaps only beaten my Candem)! Me and Marina got ourselves inside the biggest geek/nerd/LoTR/SW/whatever shop I have seen in my life! It was two stores tall and huge! I bought an Underworld poster, and tried the best I could to resist the temptation of spending all my money.
We walked into the city center and another good quality of Cardiff was disposed in front of us: People over there are GORGEOUS! They have great hair, great complexion, amazing faces, beautiful eyes... Specially the girls (ok, I'm not straight anymore... ¬¬). I swear, I saw a girl that was redhead, really white and had blue eyes... O.O
The problem is people don't dress well, I mean... They are all "Patricinhas" and "Playboys". Some, though, were punks, emos and goths but they were seldom (the redhaired girl was one of them :P). We went into thousand of shops and into the Waterstones I found a book that I was looking for for ages in Oxford and hadn't found: The Novelization of Underworld, part I (I had bought part II). Also, into a shoe store, I found a perfect converse (not an All Star, though) that you guys will see when I get back to Brazil! We also found a "Toys R Us"!!! I hadn't seen one of these since Disney World, when I was 7! They even sell Playmobil there!
We had togo back to the coach at 17h, and then it took two hous to get back to Oxford. I got home and Sheleah (one of my host parents' grandaughters) gave me a birthday present (a little very very cute ceramic dog) and I was really happy! \o/
I ate, took a shower and slept.
Sunday -> Woke up early to go to London. I had settled with Carla, Angela, Marina and another Marina that we could go by train and divide the value so it would be cheaper. I got to Carfax Tower and called Henrique. He told me that he would meet us at Candem around 12h. The other Marina was late to meet us, so we had to go by bus. It was cheap too, so no problem.
We got to Londom around 11h, and me and Marina went straight away to Candem. When we got there, it was as if it was the first time all over again... But only better. The streets were really crowded and full of people (the amazing and beautiful people of Candem! *_*), and the shops were packed with custumers! There were barely any sidewalks for us go walk by.
Our first stop was the corset store (which I forgot the name) and definetly THE most beautiful corset store I have ever seen, for they have THE most gorgeous corsets. There was even one girl buying one that was like *______* and I HAD to tell her: "Please, buy that, for it looks gorgeous on you!"
I chose mine (I WON'T describe it... You'll have to see it for yourselves!) and we went back through the main street and all the way to Virgin Store to meet Henrique. I waited for about two minutes before he got there. We first went into the Candem Market to buy our T-shirts and then he told us he doesn't really like shopping, so we should call him when we were done. I said then we should have lunch and he took us to a great Portuguese/South-African restaurant called "Nando's". It was kinda weird that everybody spoke portuguese in there! xD Actually, that is another thing! Candem was CROWDED with brazilian people! Everywere you could trip in a Brazilian! >< It was kinda annoying!
After lunch Henrique wnet to a friend's house and told us to call him and we went into the other markets we hadn't seen yet. Long, long, long descriptions and I won't give them now, but basically I bought:
- 3 posters, plastified: Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting.
- 4 T-shirts: "Kill Bush", "I'm a virgin, this is an old T-shirt", "Clockwork Orange", "Transpotting".
- 1 bag of Paul Frank.
- 3 shoe laces.
- 4 bracelets.
- 1 corset.
I think that was it! xDDDD
I called Henrique and we met again to go to Picadilly, were we would meet the girls. He dropped us there and even invited me to go to London if I wanted whenever I wanted! YAY! We met everyone at Picadilly and got the bus at Vitoria Station, back to Oxford.
Got pretty late back here, we ran to get a 7D back home. Got there and Karl was watching 24. I ate some dinner and saw it with him. Then went to bed.
Ps: About the title of the post... A big black rapper was at the tube, looking kinda stonned and laughing out loud. We thought we was crazy 'till he turned to a man and said: "When was the last time you met a brazilian girl, 5 feet tall, gorgeous, 24 years old?". Me and Marina were like: o.O Yes, the guy had had sex all night at saturday... That is a reason I'd be laughing about! xD
