Dirty little secrets we all hide...

Here in Brazil we have a Christmas tradition called "secret friend", in which we write the names of a certain group of people in little pieces of paper, mix them and draw the lots to see who gets who. You're supposed to buy a present to the person whose name was written in the piece of paper you took, and, after a week or so, everybody gets together to exchange the gifts. Most of the times you have to give tips in order for the participants to guess who is your "secret friend".

The main reason I went to São Paulo was to participate in the Brazilian fandom's Christmas "secret friend", which happened at my place, on Sunday. Everything was great and extremely funny. Pathetically enough, in a group of twenty people, my secret friend had to be [livejournal.com profile] magnun, one of my best friends in the world. I was supposed to give him a bottle of "Jurupinga" (a very weird Brazilian alcoholic beverage), but didn't find it on time, so I'll just have to pay my debt at the New Year's party.

Got back to Rio yesterday in a hurry for the yet another "secret friend", that was to take place at Julia's house. The only different thing about this one was that each of us had to choose a partner, and each couple had to buy two gifts for another couple. My partner was [livejournal.com profile] defexxx, who was still in São Paulo and had given me the money to but the presents. [livejournal.com profile] christycorr went to the party with me and ended up representing him since they're so much alike. Our "secret couple" was [livejournal.com profile] deadcinderella and Maya (who was also absent, and was represented by [livejournal.com profile] ofelix). On the other hand, we were Flora and Roli's "secret couple". I must tell you Deffie, they were so mad at you that they wanted to give your present to Christy.

On a side note, I'm getting really excited about the end of this year. Sounds extremely promising. [livejournal.com profile] magnun, [livejournal.com profile] porn_kid, [livejournal.com profile] wendybarrie_, and [livejournal.com profile] _isarma_ are coming from São Paulo and a bunch of people from Rio will be at Christy's for the party. Pity mum won't be in town, though. It'll be weird not to see her getting home at 11 am after a night out. *grins*

Post Scriptum I: [livejournal.com profile] ofelix has all of the RHPS songs on his iPod! *dies* I waaaant it!

Post Scriptum II: A late Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] wendybarrie_!

Post Scriptum III: [livejournal.com profile] frinitrix, thank you so much for the Christmas card! It was lovely. Don't worry, I'll behave next year.

You like bowling, don't you, Montag?

If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. If the government is inefficient, topheavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel like they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy.
