Ignorance is bliss.

Quoting [livejournal.com profile] christycorr, I couldn't agree less. Guess that's why I've been almost killing dedicating myself so much to school lately. I know that grades don't necessarily mean shit and that you don't prove anything to anyone by getting a ten. It's easy to know things by heart. Now, to actually learn them... is a whole other level.

I think I can securely say, now that the second trimester is over, that I have learned much. A lot of useless things, yes. But a lot of absolutely astonishing things as well. I still can't wait to go to college, but I'm trying to do my best in high school anyway. After all, that's what being a geek is all about, eh?

Best thing of the term was definitely the classes I've lectured today to the first year's on Roman Economy. It made me proud think that, in the end, all was worth it.

In general, the term could've been better, much better. But, for now, I am pleased with most of my results, which lifts a heavy weight off my back.

Need a film OD urgently. *sighs* This weekend will be promising.

You like bowling, don't you, Montag?

If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. If the government is inefficient, topheavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel like they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy.
