And so I bought it.

There was this big event at Villa-Lobos; lots of people; lots of friends. I sat on the floor in front of a registering machine with [livejournal.com profile] christycorr and [livejournal.com profile] jungle_dizzy around 20h30. By accident, we ended up being the first in line to buy the book.

Left the mall; took a cab to Christy's hotel room.

After twelve hours (took a long time to read; was a bit sleepy at the boring quidditch parts), I was done with it. Not in mood to comment the book now. I would just like to say that I was happy with the death and that Severus Snape is most definitely the best character of the book (if only he existed).

Slept around 15h; woke up at 19h. My dad picked us up to go watch Sin City. I must say I was surprised. In the best way possible.

Back to the hotel; couch; Matrix; walked home with [livejournal.com profile] defexxx.

Today Christy and I returned to Villa-Lobos to check the other books. Minus R$150,00 Two hours later, we took a cab back home.

Watched Kill Bill Vol. 2 with Deffie; sat down; turned on the computer.

In Good Company (USA, 2004) *** - On the whole, a good film. Made me laugh, like a comedy is supposed to. Nowadays comedies tend to make me cry. Sad, isn't it? Quoting Christy: still can't believe Scarlett Johanson is twenty years old.

"You seem jumpy, Carter. Did you switch from mocha to crack?" - Dan Foreman, In Good Company.

Inconscientes (Spain/Germany/Italy/Portugal, 2004) ***** - Effing funny; extremely good; ming-boggling crazy; stupendous cinematography; good actors; gorgeous protagonist; drunken plot; gay bizarre scenes. Could I want more of an European movie when I was at the brink of madness because of my I-need-cult-movies withdrawals?

No quotes here. Unfortunately, I didn't find the script, and the bloody Bible does not have them.

Frank Miller's Sin City (USA, 2005) ***** - One of the best films when it comes to cinematography I have ever seeing. The whole movie is in cut-out (black and white, with some things coloured), and I wished having a remote control to be able to pause it just to see the beauty of certain shots. You feel like you're actually reading a comic book (sensation which every other comic book adaptation has failed to proportion me). The script is great. So many quotes. Elijah Wood is absolutely fantastic in his part (shame he didn't appear much). It was annoying as usual to see actors and actresses and not know what other movies they had done. Tarantino was meddled with direction, and some scenes were simply his thing (no need to say they were great). All in all... excellent. Pity a lot of people will hate it. As for myself, I call it art.

"Modern cars - they all look like electric shavers." - Marv, Sin City.

"- Will that bring you satisfaction, my son? Killing a helpless old fart?
- Killing? No. No satisfaction. Everything up until the killing, will be a gas.
- Cardinal Roark and Marv, Sin City.

"And after I pull off that miracle, maybe I'll go punch out God."
- John Hartigan, Sin City.

"Most people think Marv is crazy. He just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He'd be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody's face. Or in a Roman arena, taking his sword to other gladiators like him. They woulda tossed him girls like Nancy back then."
- Dwight, Sin City.

"That there is one damn fine coat you're wearin'."
- Marv, Sin City.

"When it comes to consoling 19-year-old girls, I'm about as expert as a palsy patient performing brain surgery with a pipe wrench."
- John Hartigan, Sin City.

"- I don't do group jobs.
- Come on, get in the car, baby. We'll just talk. It'll be nice.
- I don't do talk jobs either."
- Becky and Jack Rafferty, Sin City.

"It's time to prove to your friends that you're worth a damn. Sometimes that means dying, sometimes it means killing a whole lot of people."
- Dwight, Sin City.

That's all, folks.

Sin City was a beautiful movie! That barn... that Lynch-ish yellow dude... And oh, Inconscientes was great! You missed a "-ly" in an adverb somewhere, but meh. Not much else to say. Late for shopping with very straight uncle. ¬¬

Yep. It was amazing. *grins* I'm sure Lynch chose that guy. xD

I'll check for the -ly.

Good shopping! o/

You like bowling, don't you, Montag?

If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. If the government is inefficient, topheavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel like they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy.
