Pride (in the name of love).

lu: (La vie bohème)
And so we did it again: the biggest Gay Parade in the world.

It's actually kind of funny to open the Sunday paper and, right after reading the previous sentence seeing the story of a policeman that couldn't get a job at the Federal Police because he wasn't "straight enough".

I've been going to São Paulo's GLBT Parade for three years now, and it's impressive how it is good for me. Being around more than two million people gathered to fight for what they believe in is one of the best feelings in the world. Every year I get to shout to the world: "yes, I'm gay. Yes, I'm proud of it, and nothing you can say or do will change that".

Brazil has still a long way to go -- the whole world does, actually. I congratulate those countries that allow gays to marry, and those who fight for it, everyday. Who knows? Maybe someday this dream will come true for me, too, and I won't have to move to the Netherlands or to Spain to be reconigzed as a couple before the government.

Even against all odds, I like to hope for the best.

(Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] discreetly for stealing the photo)

"To faggots, lezzies, dykes, cross dressers, too.
To me! To me! To me!
To you, and you, and you, you, and you.
To people living with, living with, living with,
Not dying from disease!
Let he among us, without sin, be the first to condemn...
La vie bohème!"

Yes! *_* I've watched it again yesterday. It's so gay, you know? The day deserved it.

Oooh, I love that part of the song.

Geez. You'll be seeing this in Brazil. o.o'

I'm not sure if it's my comment thing. I think it's a general LJ error.

I can so understand how that is such a good feel, to just be there with that many people who all fight for the same thing. It must be such a good and great feel. And I'm so glad that you have that over there, so you can experience that!

The whole world has a long way to go, but I'm hoping that one day, this all won't be such a trouble and everybody will be more free. And that you can have your dream come true. That would be beautiful.

It's really great. Shows all of us that we're not alone at all. I wish I lived in San Francisco or one of these other cities, too, where there is an incredible number of gay people. Here in Brazil homophobia is too great.

Aw, thanks. It will be wonderful. I just hope I'm around here to see it made.

sure! no prob.

You like bowling, don't you, Montag?

If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. If the government is inefficient, topheavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel like they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy.
