lu: (Beyond creepy)
[livejournal.com profile] deadcinderella inspired me to talk a little about Lost. Not the episodes themselves, but just in general.

A lot of people have told me that they (really sorry about the pun) lost interest in the series. Too much mystery, very few answers. Some say Locke is weirder than ever, and that J.J. Abrams is going to explain everything through the realm of the "unnatural".

Now, I say, seriously people.

Anyone that OMGLOVED the first season, all it's questions, mysteries and, quite frankly, bizarre things has no right to decide, right now, that Locke is "weirder than ever". Does anyone remember that creepy herb he put on Boone's head in season one that made him hallucinate? All his craziness towards the hatch, that yellow light (which was explained by pure and simple reasonable facts) and all that jazz.

If you think rationally, all Locke did on that episode was hallucinate with the help of really cool herbs that he had to save Eko. He felt guilty about Boone, Boone shows up on his subconscious. He felt guilty about Eko. Guess who Boone told him to save? WOW. Very psychic that all was, eh?

All I'm saying is... patience, my dear hobbitses. Anyone that has seen Alias know how crazy and bizarre J.J. Abrams is. He already said explanations will be scientific. He also said he had enough script for six seasons. I was programmed, from the start, to only get some answers by then. Were you whole lot not? What would be the fun if we found out everything so soon?

Season three is amazing so far (the last ep... WOW) and, as Renata said, we don't waste time watching poker matches. This is not Big Brother. The fun of the series isn't to see Kate in her bathing suit.

...Or maybe it is, like some of the theories say. After all, sometimes is does seem that one that island WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH AND BEN IS WATCHING YOU.

In Lost two plus two can equal five. And while some people decide that is an absurd and turn their backs on the series, us, believers in J.J. Abrams's craziness, wait to see the insane, but rational, equation that would give us that result.

ETA: I've just seen this picture in [livejournal.com profile] fly_meaway's journal. Look at the plane, to the right, behind Walt. See the symbol? Now tell me all of this wasn't meticulously planned.

Lu, people are seriously fucked up!!! You're blessed, but that's rare! :P
You can say; wait and you'll get some answers, or be patience, and blah blah, it doesn't matter. They'll still be thirsty!
I really don't mind getting an answer at all!!!!
The hole plot is already worth it! The anxiety and the waiting for the next episode, that's what really matters to me! The answers to my questions are just a consequence...
Locke has always been that weird.. :) I love him!!!!! :P
And Santoro... can't wait to see him taking his clothes off!! Lol

*laughs* Blessed, am I?

Oh, God, some people are just stupid. I mean... I get it. But... just wait a bit for answers, you know?

The last episode was so so good!

He's going to take his clothes off?!

Well, I don't watch Lost. To tell you the truth I see nothing in this series. Seriously. I tried watching it and I really don't get all the fuzz around it.
Anyway, wht I have to tsay that it's pretty normal to get disappointed to a series in a certain point where there are no answers and they only bouild more and more questions. It's frustrating, like X-Files! It used to be one of my favorite - if not the favorite - series, and yeah, it sell! Everybody was all in love with X-Files, the first season was awesome and then... no answers.
Second season... no answers.
Third season: more problems, less answers.
I think the thing that most gave us answers was the movie, that was like a giant X-Files episode. Nothing more. And they kept the series going on, the actors decided to leave, they changed everything, made a horrible ending for Mulder and...tcharam! Here's Doget, the worse character ever! \o/
And that's how it is.
I can't help but compare Lost and X-Files because of the success, and I can't help but think they're slowly walking to the same thing: a lame ending, no answers and only questions for as long as they want to sell.
Just it.

I miiiisssss you!

I didn't see The X Files, but I guess that must have been frustrating indeed. I just... I guess I trust J.J. Abrams too much to think he'd do something like that. I really, really hope he doesn't.

Everyone compares Lost and The X Files, but I just hope that they are not the same when it comes to this matter.

Miss you lots. =*

Ugh, I'm getting a bit sick of people constantely complaining. If you lose interest, then stop talking about it. I mean, why constantely update your journal if you say you're losing interest? I don't know, sometimes that bothers me, I guess ;)

You musn't forget to mention that the whole plane thing and Boone dying and that's how Eko and Locke found the other hatch, that was all planned like that! It just shows that the writers know what they're doing.

I think a lot of people can't really deal with the constant questions, but I love it. It makes me want to investigate things. I found some other stuff that I know YOU'd find cool. Like, there is ACTUALLY hidden audio in scenes. Not even whispering, hidden audio. The writers put it in there and they admitted that. I mean, how cool is that? What show gives you hidden audio that makes you really do things to get that? I mean, that's amazing.

So yeah, thanks for this. I really needed someone else to be this optimistic :D

And I'm glad you saw that picture! I found it on TheFuse yesterday and I was like; omg! I thought someone had photoshopped it, so I went on Lost Media and saw it was on there as well. There should also be another cap when Jack is near the wreckage, when he finds the cave in episode 1.05, you should see the Dharma symbol on there as well. I have yet to search for that cap though!

*laughs* Indeed. People are just weird.

OMG. Hidden audio? That's creepy. It really does impress me when I find out J.J. Abrams does know what he's doing.

No problem, honey. Your journal always makes me feel good, too, since you are one of the optmistic ones.

WOW. Really? Do search for the cap and let me know!
[identity profile] fly-meaway.livejournal.com wrote:

Yep, actual hidden audio. It's the best thing ever. At the Fuselage there are so many threads and there are like two people who totally decipher this and the writers/producers said that it's true. They actually put that in there. For us. They also deciphered the intercoms we heard creaking in the scenes with the underwater hatch and stuff. Seriously, so good. But also besides that, like just hidden audio that we can't even decipher with our own ears, but they can, with their stuff. It's fun :D

I'll try to search for the cap asap. I'm just not feeling very well, so I don't know if I'll get to that today, but I'll search for it soon!

I don't think it's fair of me to link you to the audio files they made (when they clear out the rest), but I can copy some stuff:

This for instance is from 3.04, when Jack hears the intercom for the second time. Just before Juiliette comes in to get Jack to operate on Colleen:

1. Speaker 1: (Everythings) under control (.5 sec)
2. Speaker 2:yeah? (2.35 sec)
3. Speaker 2: You know what he's doing to Colleen? (3.09 sec, note CC had "Karl" instead of Colleen)
4. (they don't know yet what is said here)(4.19 sec)
5. Speaker 1: the man knows what he's doing (5 sec)
6. Speaker 2 it was a mistake bringing those two here (7 sec)

Then some more in EMFH: Sawyer waking up on the operating table and the first intercom scene:

1. voice 1: No we shouldn’t do this (0 sec)
2. voice 2: just stay on okay/ just stay focused ( 1 sec)
3. Benry: And... (2 sec)
4. Benry: I'll check Goodwins house (3 sec)
5. unitelligable whisper (4.5)
6. Tom: where do I start, in the two days since the sky turned
purple, we’ve been blind our comms are all down and I can’t get
them up again and in case you forgot Colleen’s in critical (5.25)
7. Benry: Juliet’s taking care of her (16)
8. Sawyer: Ahhh, where am I? (19)
(20 sec right after sawyer says where am I there’s a weird noise,
could be his sighing but it sounds processed) I think this is just
him sighing.
9. Sawyer: what the hell are you doing to me? Let me up
10. Benry: Jason.
11. Sawyer: let me up
12. Jason: bite down on this please
13. Sawyer: you bite down on it
14. Ben: its for the pain.
15. Sawyer: Wait. Wait let me up. no.
14. Benry: God I hate needles.
16. Sawyer: No. No. What are you doing.
17 Sawyer: Wait
17. unintelligible whisper (56 sec possibly free 'em)
18. Sawyer: wait what are you doing,
19. what happened (1 min spoken quickly, possibly Sawyer screaming)

Then this is from Tale Of Two Cities, when we first hear the intercom:

1. has she tried to talk to him/shall we talk to him (3 sec)

2. Look on (4.5 sec)

3. Has he answered/his head is hurt (6 sec)

4. dont/won't talk (6.2 faint)

5. we're not sure if he knows that much/ we’re not sure if we’ll find out much (7 sec - 8.65 sec)

6. that's what I was thinking (8.5 sec)

7. (to) let him go free (9.8 sec)

8. it's not easy keeping something that secret/sacred (12 sec - 15 sec)

{Jack: If you're trying to talk to me, i can't hear you}

9. what are you gonna do/ go on and do it (14 sec, in background)

10. Let it go Jack (Christian's voice? 18 sec)

11. Now I can tell what you're doing (20.3 sec)

12. unintelligible (21.2 sec, possibly "Bring it back to her")

Some of these are not always really hidden, but some stuff is. So interesting. I can give you more if you want.

WOW! Those are incradible. Like... WHOA. I can't believe that some people actually decipher these things. Amazing. Where did you get all this? Fuselage?
[identity profile] fly-meaway.livejournal.com wrote:
Nov. 1st, 2006 02:50 pm (UTC)
Yep, TheFuselage.com. There are two people that actually do the deciphering over there. If you get an account there, then you should go to the 'general theories' board and in there (at the top) is the Whispers thread. The now called Whispers and other hidden audio.

I have more if you want :D

Yep, it's all free. The only thing that you need to pay for if you want special things, but that's only necessary for the people who spend almost all their hours on there, I think. I can hardly keep up with the site, but I like to go there from time to time.

So yeah, it's free.

To be honest, I haven't seen any Lost yet.

Hi, new friend :)

"isn't to see Kate in her bathing suit.

...Or maybe it is"

haha. agreed.
But I also agree with the fact that part of the strength of Locke's character is how you can't put your finger on him, how he is changeable and yeh, a bit "wierd". I didnt see the last episode.. the ones prior to that, i was a bit disappointed, i miss the whole island together.

Six seasons? oh man. Amazing. At least one good show is still around.

Hello, new friend. =)

Locke is so amazing in his own bizarre way. Oh, you totally have to see the last episode. It was fantastic! Sawyer flashback and all. God, I love Sawyer.

You like bowling, don't you, Montag?

If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none. If the government is inefficient, topheavy, and tax-mad, better it be all those than that people worry over it. Peace, Montag. Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year. Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel like they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change. Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy.
